Thomas Wiedling

Thomas Wiedling (born June 15, 1962 in Munich ) is a German writer , translator and literary agent .

Life

Thomas Wiedling studied German and Slavic studies at universities in Munich, Freiburg and Moscow . In 1989 he graduated from the German School of Journalism in Munich.

Wiedling first made a name for himself as a translator for Russian literature and was awarded numerous prizes for this work. Thomas Wiedling has translated works by Alexandra Marinina , Alexander Terechow , Arkadij Bartov , Asar Eppel , Wladimir Sorokin , Dmitry Likhachov and many others , among others . He later published his own novels.

The author is a founding member of the Munich Translators' Forum as well as the founding owner of the interactive online publishing bookstore Calle Arco.

Together with Bettina Nibbe he runs the literary agency Nibbe & Wiedling , which places works by Russian-speaking authors of all genres in all exploitation formats worldwide.

Wiedling lives with his family near Munich. He is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ.
