Thomas de Witt (1548-1601)

Thomas de Witt (* 1548 in Dordrecht ; † December 1, 1601 ibid) was a Dordrecht patrician and regent. He came from the De Witt family .

biography

Thomas's parents were Willem de Witt and Maria van Wezel. In 1587 he entered the government of his hometown as Schepen . He held this office for many years. Between the years 1598 and 1600 Thomas worked as a deputy for the states of Holland and West Friesland . In 1601 he was elected mayor of the city of Dordrecht. No children arose from his marriage to Adriana van Scharlaken.
