The Thomson Peak is a 2,350 m high mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 17.5 km southeast of Mount Shute at the southern end of the Mirabito Range of the Concord Mountains .
The northern group of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1963-1964) named him after the New Zealand atmospheric physicist Robert Baden Thomson (1927-2008), scientific director of the Hallett station in 1960, chief officer of the Wilkes station in 1962 and deputy director of Scott Base from 1963 to 1964.
