Þórir Hergeirsson (born April 27, 1964 in Selfoss , Iceland ) is an Icelandic handball coach who currently coaches the Norwegian women's national team.

Hergeirsson came to Norway in 1986 to study at the NIH ( Norges idrettshøgskole ). In Norway his first coaching station was the Fredensborg / Ski junior team. He then coached the men's team at Elverum Håndball from 1989 to 1994 and then took over the coaching position of the women's team at Gjerpen Håndball for two years . In 1999 he trained Nærbø IL.

Hergeirsson coached the female offspring of the Norwegian national team between 1994 and 2001. He then became assistant coach of the Norwegian women's national team, which was then coached by Marit Breivik . In April 2009 he took over from Breivik. Under his leadership , Norway won the European Championship in 2010 , 2014 and 2016, the World Championship in 2011 and 2015 and the Olympic Games in 2012 .
