Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever is the second album by the Texas post-rock band Explosions in the Sky . It was released on September 4, 2001 on Temporary Residence Limited , a Brooklyn-based record label. The band was previously on the Sad Loud America label.

Overview

The band hit the media with the album because the album's liner notes contain a picture of a plane and the phrase "This plane will crash tomorrow" (in the original: This Plane Will Crash Tomorrow ). It was rumored that the album was released on September 10, 2001 - the day before the September 11, 2001 attacks . However, the album was released in August. An interview with the band in Stylus Magazine shows that the band had the ideas and the artwork for the liner notes a year before the attacks.

The song " Have You Passed Through This Night? " Is one of the first songs from Explosions in the Sky that contains words. It is a sample from the film Der schmale Grat (1998).

The song title, "With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept" later became an episode title for an episode in the third season of the American television series One Tree Hill (German: We slept with tired eyes, tired spirits, tired souls ) .

The album cover, a painting by David Logan, was inspired by the legend of the Angel of Mons . This angel of Mons is said to have protected British troops in the Battle of Mons during World War I.
