Lama Shenphen Rinpoche ( wylie : bla ma gzhan phan rin po che ; also: Lama Gendün Rabgye Tulku, wylie: bla ma dge 'dun rab rgyas sprul sku ; born January 10, 1969 in France ) is a Buddhist teacher ( Lama ) of tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . At the age of 16 he took the Buddhist refuge with Lama Gendün Rinpoche and shortly afterwards took the monastic vows before Lama Zopa Rinpoche . The full ordination took place some time later by the 14th Dalai Lama in India. As a result, various lamas confirmed that he was the rebirth ( tulku ) of Lama Gendün Rabgye from the Kharnang monastery in Kham ( Tibet ). Therefore, since his enthronement, Lama Shenphen has been one of the few people born in the West to bear the title of Rinpoche . Lama Shenphen Rinpoche is also one of the lamas of the Buddhist monastery university Sera Je in southern India.

Teacher

Lama Shenphen Rinpoche's first teacher was the Gelug master Khensur Geshe Tegchok Rinpoche. Other important teachers were Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, the XIV. Dalai Lama, Gomo Tulku and Lama Gendün Rinpoche ( Kagyu ) and Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche ( Nyingma ).

Very early on, Lama Shenpen Rinpoche was asked to teach, which he has been doing since 1986. After a few years in the monastery, he completed medical training in Paris (Faculté Libre des Sciences de la Santé) and then spent more than five years in humanitarian activities, mainly in India, Nepal and Russia (for street children). To this end, he founded the AMCHI Society to support the organization of aid missions. At the request of Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the spiritual director of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition FPMT , Shenphen Rinpoche was the director of a retreat center in Greece from 1998 to 2001. In 2000 he founded the Buddhist Congregation Dharmaling as an umbrella organization for his activities. In 2001 and 2002 Shenphen lived in Spain and founded a Buddhist center there. He has lived permanently in Slovenia since 2002 , where he founded the country's first Buddhist temple with a comprehensive program of teachings and practice. He regularly travels to Hungary, Austria, France, Romania and Russia to give lectures.

Lama Shenphen Rinpoche has been practicing a method that uses mantras and meditations to help people with mental and physical problems for over 20 years.

tradition

Lama Shenphen Rinpoche is traditionally trained and has received transmissions from various masters of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in Dharamsala and Sera-Je Monastery (India), but also in Kharnang Monastery (Tibet). It aims to teach a Buddhism that is liberated from cultural impregnations from Tibet and goes beyond the various restrictions associated with the educational and political roots of Tibetan society and the differentiation in schools (Nyingma, Sakya , Kagyu, Gelug).

Rinpoche promotes a Buddhism that is more integrated into society and offers the general public more services (visits to the hospital, education in school, etc.) in order to apply the Dharma in daily life. Rinpoche has therefore been thinking for years how the lineage of Tibetan Buddhism - without deteriorating it - can be adapted to the West. This adaptation also includes clothing; Rinpoche thinks, for example, of a "western" version of Buddhist robes.

Some teachings have been written down and are available on the Darmaling website (mainly in English, but also in Hungarian, French and Slovenian).
