Thuins

Thuins ( Italian Tunes ) is a fraction of the municipality of Sterzing in the South Tyrolean Wipptal ( Italy ). Thuins has around 240 inhabitants.

location

The place is located at 1066  m slm west of Sterzing. The landscape plan of the municipality of Sterzing states that "the free agricultural areas around Thuins [...] are very important for the landscape and [...] should be protected from major interventions". In addition, the “meadows between the Autobahn and Thuins, as well as the unique hedge landscape south and west of this village are intended as a ban zone. The meadow slopes above Thuins deserve to be placed under protection as a particularly worthy of protection landscape. "

Worth seeing

  • The St. Jacob's Church in Thuins is particularly worth seeing. The late Gothic building with a pointed tower dates from 1511 and was rebuilt in the 17th century and instead of originally dedicated to St. Lawrence, it is now consecrated to the Apostle James the Elder . In the nave and choir there are pointed and round arched windows. The church has been a listed building since 1986 .
  • In addition to the church, the chapel and the farmhouses Gassebner, Löweneck, Saxer and Seebner are among the architectural monuments in Thuins .
