description

Thymus binervulatus is a small shrub whose stems are lignified, slender and creeping, with terminal inflorescences . The flower-bearing stems are up to 8 cm long and hairy all around. The leaves are 8 to 9 mm long and 3 to 4 mm wide. They are elliptical-spatulate, almost leathery and have a distinct, ciliate petiole . They form two clearly visible pairs of side veins that converge in the upper part of the leaf blade to form a marginal vein.

The inflorescences are head-shaped. The bracts resemble the foliage leaves. The calyx is 3.5 to 4 mm long, greenish in color, the upper teeth are up to 1 mm long, lanceolate and sparsely ciliate. The crown is pale purple.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs in the foothills of the southern Urals , east of Ufa .

Systematics

Within the genus of the thyme ( thymus ), the species is classified in the subsection Kotschyani of the section Serpyllum .
