Thymus stojanovii is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus stojanovii is a small, lawn-forming shrub that forms creeping and woody, non-flower-bearing stems , on which up to 5 (rarely up to 7) cm long flower-bearing stems, at the base of which are groups of small leaves . Usually the stems are hairy all around and groups of leaves are often formed in the armpits. The leaves are 5 to 7 mm long and 1 to 2 mm wide. They are lanceolate-elliptical, somewhat fleshy, almost pointed and usually longer than the internodes . They are often hairy and ciliate at the base. The side veins are only indistinctly pronounced.

The inflorescences are spherical to slightly cylindrical. The bracts resemble the foliage leaves. The calyx is 3 to 4 (rarely up to 5) mm long and purple in color, the upper lip is the same length or longer than the calyx tube, the upper teeth are 0.5 to 1 (rarely up to 1.5) mm long, ciliate and almost prickly. The crown protrudes only slightly from the chalice and is purple.

Occurrence and locations

The species occurs in the mountains of the central area of ​​the Balkan Peninsula .
