Tiago Fernandes (born January 29, 1993 in Maceió ) is a former Brazilian tennis player . Fernandes was number one in the tennis junior world rankings.
Career
At the age of 16, Tiago Fernandes became the first Brazilian to win a Junior Grand Slam title . He won the 2010 Australian Open and was number one in the junior world rankings. In the same year, the 1.88 m tall South American gained experience at the futures level . After his first Challenger final in 2011, he made a big jump in the ATP ranking, but fell back again in 2012. On the ATP World Tour he made his double debut in 2010 thanks to a wildcard in Costa do Sauípe . In 2011 he received another wildcard for the doubles competition in Nice .
In 2014 Fernandes announced the end of his career as he would rather concentrate on his studies.
