Tibetan Nationality College
The Tibetan University for Nationalities (Chinese: Xizang Minzu Xueyuan西藏 民族 学院; English: Tibet Institute for Nationalities), occasionally also called the Tibetan University for National Minorities or Tibetan Institute for Nationalities , was the first university in Tibet.
It was founded in 1958. The main campus is located in Xianyang , Shaanxi Province ; an earlier branch was in Nyingchi . In 1978 the government of the Tibet Autonomous Region decided not to move the college to Tibet.
The college was opened in 1958 as the Tibet Public School ( Xizang gongxue西藏 公 学); In 1965 it was given its current name.
