Tibor Pázmány

Tibor Pázmány (* 1940 in Budapest ) is a from Hungary originating Austrian organist and conductor .

Act

He studied organ playing and conducting at the Franz Liszt Music Academy . He spent his early years at the theater in Szolnok . At the Hungarian State Operetta he conducted a wide repertoire from opera to musicals . During this time he was also a lecturer in musicals at the State Academy of Drama in Budapest . In 1981 he was engaged by the Magdeburg Opera after an engagement in the radio .

In 1984 he and his wife left for the West on a tourist visa . It took two years until he got a job at the Landestheater Linz . He was only able to return to work as a conductor in the Nabucco production from 1989 . Seven more Verdi operas followed. From the 1991/92 season he advanced to the position of Kapellmeister and head of studies and conducted an extensive opera and operetta repertoire. In 2001 he was a guest conductor at the Bregenz Festival Hall and in 2003 at the Theater am Kornmarkt .

A number of works in which he played a major role as a conductor have been published on phonograms.

Awards

On the occasion of his retirement in 2005 he was awarded the culture medal of the province of Upper Austria .
