The Tieton Dam is a dam built from earth and concrete on the Tieton River in Yakima County , Washington state . The dam was put into operation in 1925. The lake he dammed, Rimrock Lake , has a storage space of 244 million cubic meters with a total storage space of 251 million cubic meters. It provides water for irrigation in agriculture. The Tieton Dam is part of the Yakima Project . Upstream, the Tieton River is dammed by the Clear Creek Dam , another element of the Yakima Project . About 8 mi (13 km) downstream from the dam, the river is channeled into the Tieton Main Canal.
