The Clear Creek Dam (National ID # WA00264) is a dam in Yakima County in the State of Washington .
The narrow concrete arch dam was originally completed in 1915 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation with a height of 19 meters and a crown length of 123 meters. In 1918 it was increased by a further 6.4 meters to its current height of 25 meters, it was partially overhauled in 1964 and found unsafe in 1990 when the dammed lake had to be drained to less than five percent of its planned capacity. The dam was reconstructed and provided with a reinforcing gravity dam ; the lake was refilled under public pressure.
The dam dams the North Fork Tieton River , which is part of the Bureau of Reclamation's larger Yakima project , which maintains both dam and reservoir. Today the lake is mainly used for recreational purposes.
The created reservoir, the Clear Lake , has a surface area of 110 hectares and a capacity of 6.5 million cubic meters. Recreational uses include boating and fishing. The lake is enclosed by the southern end of the Wenatchee National Forest . The YMCA of Yakima maintains a Camp Dudley on its shores, however a summer camp and a written exam.
