The Tieton River is a tributary of the Naches River in Yakima County , Washington state .

The Tieton River rises with two source rivers (English "Forks"), the North Fork Tieton River and the South Fork Tieton River . The North Fork comes from the McCall Glacier on the east side of Old Snowy Mountain , Ives Peak and the Goat Rocks after which the Goat Rocks Wilderness is named. It flows under the influx of other sources from the high mountains such as Tieton Peak into Clear Lake , then into the west end of Rimrock Lake . The South Fork Tieton River starts at the Meade Glacier on the east side of Gilbert Peak , which is also part of the Goat Rocks. Some streams flow towards the South Fork. It flows generally north and enters Rimrock Lake near its east end.

The Rimrock Lake is an artificial reservoir , which from Tieton Dam formed and by the United States Bureau of Reclamation is managed. The lake stores water for irrigation, which is part of the Bureau of Reclamation's Yakima project . The actual Tieton River drains from Rimrock Lake at Tieton Dam. It flows generally eastward and joins the Naches River near the town of Tieton .
