The Chewuch River is a river in Okanogan County , Washington state .

The name comes from the word / cwáx / [čwáx] from the Columbia-Moses and means "brook".

The river valley was the site of the Thirty Mile Fire , a forest fire in the Okanogan National Forest that killed four firefighters in July 2001.

The Chewuch River rises in the Cascade Range northeast of Remmel Mountain at the confluence of Remmel Creek and Cathedral Creek . it flows generally south and flows into the Methow River at Winthrop , which is a tributary of the Columbia River . Tributaries of the Chewuch River are Andrews Creek , Lake Creek , Eightmile Creek, and Cub Creek .

Just below the mouth of Meadow Creek , the river plunges as Chewuch Falls about 9 m into the depth.
