The Rimrock Lake is a reservoir on the Tieton River in Yakima County in the State of Washington .
The lake serves as a reservoir for the Yakima Project, an irrigation project run by the United States Bureau of Reclamation . The reservoir size and discharge are regulated by the Tieton Dam , a 97 m high structure from 1925. The reservoir size in Rimrock Lake is 244 million m³.
Upstream of Rimrock Lake, the Tieton River is dammed by Clear Creek Dam , which is also part of the Yakima Project. About eight miles downstream from Rimrock Lake the Tieton River, water is diverted from the river through the Tieton Diversion Dam to divert it into the Tieton Main Canal. The canal supplies irrigation systems to the Tieton Division of the Yakima Project, with the surplus and runoff from the farmland being directed to Ahtanum Creek , west of Yakima .
