The Tbilisi Lake ( Georgian თბილისის წყალსაცავი , Tbilissis Zqalsazawi ) or Tbilisi reservoir is an artificial lake on the edge of Tbilisi that serves as a water reservoir .
The lake has a length of 8.75 km and a width of 2.85 km. It opened in 1953 and has since become a popular resort town. There are plans to develop Lake Tbilisi into a recreation park with numerous sports facilities.
