Tiger Lance

Herbert Roy "Tiger" Lance (born June 6, 1940 in Pretoria , † November 10, 2010 in Johannesburg ) was a South African cricketer .

Lance played a total of 13 Tests for South Africa in his playing career between 1962 and 1970 and played 103 first-class games , mainly for the North Eastern Transvaal, Northern Transvaal and Transvaal. He was considered an all-rounder and was a right - handed batsman and right-handed medium-pace bowler . In total, he scored 5,336 first-class runs , averaging 34.87 per innings . His best result was 169 in one innings. He achieved 167 wickets , with an average of 25.65 runs / wicket.

Lance died in Johannesburg Hospital on November 10, 2010, after being critically injured in a car accident in Sunninghill on October 15, 2010 in which a woman drove her car on the wrong side of the road and hit his vehicle.
