The Tiger Peak (English for tiger tip ) is a 1490 m high mountain in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the center of the Anare Mountains, it rises up from the wall of a mountain basin near the head of the Ludvig Glacier .
Scientists from a campaign of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions , who explored the area around the offshore Pennell coast in 1962 with the ship Thala Dan , made the name. The band is named after the different colored stone, which is reminiscent of the striped fur of a tiger .
