Tijuana Gallos Caliente

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tijuana Gallos Caliente was a Mexican football club based in Tijuana , Baja California .

history

The franchise was created in the summer of 2006 as a result of the collaboration between Gallos Blancos de Querétaro FC , which has just been promoted to the first division , and the Tijuana-based Grupo Caliente , Mexico's largest provider of sports betting . The aim was to create a farm team for the club from Querétaro , which also acted as an advertising medium for the Grupo Caliente at its headquarters and therefore integrated the names of its two sponsors in the club name.

The club joined the second-rate Primera División 'A' at Apertura 2006 , took second place in its group and advanced to the semi-finals in the Liguillas , where the team narrowly (0-0 and 0-1) against the Petroleros de Salamanca was subject.

Because the betting company was aiming for a football club that it controlled alone, the jointly started project was terminated after just one half season and the second division license was sold to the former first division club Celaya FC during the winter break . At the same time, the Grupo Caliente acquired the license of the Guerreros de Tabasco and created his own club, the Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente , which started in the second half of the same season.
