Edward Timothy "Tim" Razzall, Baron Razzall CBE (born June 12, 1943 ) is a British lawyer , business manager and politician of the Liberal Party and now the Liberal Democrats , who has been a life peer member of the House of Lords since 1997 .

Life

After attending school, Razzall completed a law degree at Worcester College at the University of Oxford and began his professional career in 1969 as a solicitor . After being a partner in the law firm Frere Cholmeley Bischoff between 1973 and 1995 , he has been a partner in Argonaut Associates since 1995.

In addition to his professional career, he began his political career in local politics for the Liberal Party in the mid-1970s and was a member of the council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames from 1974 to 1998 , where he was also deputy leader of the council between 1983 and 1996 Chaired its Policy and Resources Committee. In 1987 he was first treasurer of the Liberal Party. After their union with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1988 to form the Liberal Democrats, Razzall served as treasurer of the Liberal Democrats between 1988 and 2000 and was also a member of the party's federal executive committee from 1987 to 2010. Lord Razzall is the partner of Jane Bonham Carter, Baroness Bonham-Carter of Yarnbury , who is also a member of the House of Lords for the Liberal Democrats. Both were criticized when it became known they shared an apartment but both were each seeking reimbursement from the House of Lords. However, they did not violate any legal regulations.
