Tim Razzall, Baron Razzall
Edward Timothy "Tim" Razzall, Baron Razzall CBE (born June 12, 1943 ) is a British lawyer , business manager and politician of the Liberal Party and now the Liberal Democrats , who has been a life peer member of the House of Lords since 1997 .
Life
After attending school, Razzall completed a law degree at Worcester College at the University of Oxford and began his professional career in 1969 as a solicitor . After being a partner in the law firm Frere Cholmeley Bischoff between 1973 and 1995 , he has been a partner in Argonaut Associates since 1995.
In addition to his professional career, he began his political career in local politics for the Liberal Party in the mid-1970s and was a member of the council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames from 1974 to 1998 , where he was also deputy leader of the council between 1983 and 1996 Chaired its Policy and Resources Committee. In 1987 he was first treasurer of the Liberal Party. After their union with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1988 to form the Liberal Democrats, Razzall served as treasurer of the Liberal Democrats between 1988 and 2000 and was also a member of the party's federal executive committee from 1987 to 2010. In addition, from 1990 to 1995 he was President of the Association of Liberal Democrat Councilors, the union of liberal-democratic local representatives.
By a letters patent dated October 22, 1997, Razzall, who had been honored for his political services as Commander of the Order of the British Empire , was given the title of Baron Razzall , of Mortlake in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, in raised the nobility . Between 1998 and 2010 he was spokesman for his parliamentary group in the House of Lords for trade and industry, and most recently for economy, companies and regulatory reforms. He also served from 1999 to 2006 as chairman of the election commission of the Liberal Democrats for the general election and at the same time between 2000 and 2006 as chairman of the election campaign and Communications Committee of his party.
Currently holds Lord Razzall numerous functions in the private sector and is also a board member of the company Barton Brown Limited, LawAlert Ltd, World Wide Pay Ltd, Premjet plc, Square Mile Capital Investments plc, Blue Dale Corporate Limited, North Atlantic Mining Ltd, Weather Lottery plc , Ardel Holdings Guernsey Ltd, Gameday Enterprises Australia Ltd and Just Loans plc.
Lord Razzall is the partner of Jane Bonham Carter, Baroness Bonham-Carter of Yarnbury , who is also a member of the House of Lords for the Liberal Democrats. Both were criticized when it became known they shared an apartment but both were each seeking reimbursement from the House of Lords. However, they did not violate any legal regulations.
