Tim Seely

Tim Seely (born June 10, 1935 ) is a British film and stage actor.

Life

Seely studied at the traditional London drama school Royal Academy of Dramatic Art . He made his theater debut in 1957 in the play Loner (Tea and Sympathy) at the Comedy Theater in London . Seely took on the leading role of the young Tom Lee , who falls in love with the older married Laura (played by Elizabeth Sellars ) at boarding school . He later appeared in the same role at Liverpool's New Shakespeare Theater. On the same stage he played Rodolfo in a production of the Arthur Miller play A View From the Bridge . At the side of Maggie Smith he appeared in 1958 at London's St Martin's Theater in a production of the play The Stepmother .

Seely was a member of the BBC Radio Drama Company, for which he played the title role in Pericles, Prince of Tire . Seely took on other roles in Shakespeare works such as that of Baptista in The Taming of the Shrew (The Taming of the Shrew), Capulet in Romeo and Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), Polonius in Hamlet , Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing (Much Ado about Nothing) and the king of France in all's well That Ends well (all's well That end's well).

From the late 1950s, Seely also appeared in film and television. He became known to an international audience in 1962 for his role as midshipman Ned Young in the classic film Mutiny on the Bounty at the side of Marlon Brando and Trevor Howard . After that, Seely only appeared sporadically in films.
