Tim Tom north (* 29. November 1963 when Thomas Maria Seikmann in Salzburg ) is a contemporary Austrian painter, known by Pop Art -Bildertrilogien that such high altitude. As the crane or in a bungee jumping , überdrippt be (painted).

Life

Norden attended the Bundesrealgymnasium in Salzburg-Nonntal from 1974 to 1983 . There he was first familiar with the works of Jackson Pollock and Roy Lichtenstein . This shaped his later artistic career. In 1983 Norden moved to Vienna and studied cultural engineering as well as economics and social sciences. While studying, Norden created his first oil paintings, all in one color. Due to the different directions of the brushstrokes, the paintings - depending on the perspective - only appeared on closer inspection.

After completing his studies, in addition to his job as a real estate developer, Norden painted large-format oil paintings with motifs such as Celtic runes and sacred crosses, mostly in unfinished rooms in the shopping centers he had developed.

In 1995 Norden moved to Bratislava and founded Gallery Thoha (1999 to 2009), which was one of the leading galleries in the city for over 10 years. In the Gallery Thoha, Norden organized many large exhibitions, such as Hermann Nitsch's in 2000, and also exhibited his own works there.

In 1999, Norden chose the north-facing compass as a symbol and created a seal that from then on displayed the unmistakable signature in the form of a stamp in colored sealing wax under his paintings.

Norden returned to Vienna in 2009 and has lived in the Vienna Woods since 2010 . Norden has been married to since 2009 and has 4 sons.

Norden began with large-format nudes around 1985, followed by sacred elements and symbols from 1990; from 2010 he turned to action painting .

Since 2013, Norden has only been painting Pop Art in connection with Action Painting. Tim Tom Norden paints black likenesses of people and objects, which are then printed in triplicate on canvases. Several of these series of images are sprayed, poured and dripped with colors from a great height. Then one picture from each series is removed and the overpainting process is continued. The last picture of the trilogy is usually sprinkled with colors by a bungee crane .

Viewed from a distance, the representations gain clarity again despite being painted over.

The impact of the color from a great height creates unique, non-copyable color structures on the canvases. Norden signs next to the seal by means of a fingerprint on the attached certificate of authenticity .

Norden donated most of the proceeds from the sale of his paintings to charitable organizations.

Art market

At an auction in Vienna by the most renowned pop art gallery owner in Austria, Gerald Hartinger (Gerald Hartinger Fine Arts) for the benefit of St. Anna Children's Cancer Research, 120,000 euros were achieved in 2018 for 9 picture series. The Elvis Presley trilogy reached 25,000 euros and the Dagobert Duck trilogy reached 30,000 euros.
