Timm Beichelt

Timm Beichelt (born February 7, 1968 in Cologne ) is a German professor for European studies at the European University Viadrina .

Life

After graduating from high school in Rheinbach in 1988, Timm Beichelt studied political science , economics and Slavic studies in Heidelberg and Paris from 1990 to 1996 . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Heidelberg , research assistant on the “Preemptive Institution Building” project at the Humboldt University in Berlin and a research assistant at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt; In 2000 he received his doctorate at Heidelberg University on the topic of democratic consolidation in post-socialist Europe . In 2008 he was appointed professor at the European University Viadrina with the denomination European Studies . Timm Beichelt has been a board member of the German Society for Eastern European Studies (DGO) since 2009.

Research and Teaching

Timm Beichelt's main research interests are the European Union, democracy in Eastern Europe, culture and politics, and right-wing radicalism in Eastern Europe.
