Timur Chamsatowitsch Muzurajew ( Russian Тимур Хамзатович Муцураев ; born June 25, 1976 in Novyje Atagi near Grozny ) is a Chechen singer and fighter.

Live and act

Muzurajew is a singer and plays the guitar himself. His songs are mainly dedicated to the Chechnya wars and the Islamic religion, but also to love for women and home. He sings many of his songs in Russian, which explains his popularity in the post-Soviet space. Muzurajew sets poems by Arslan Jartschijew and his own poems to music. In 1991 he became a Chechen karate master . He took part in the First Chechnya War on the side of Dudayev and was seriously injured.

His song Jerusalem , which speaks of the fact that life “becomes clear” only in jihad, and of the hope of seeing the re-conquered al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, became particularly well-known . This song, among other things, made Muzurajew the idol of many among those who advocated Chechnya independence. Jerusalem and another song Shamil leads his troops can also be heard as music for the film Wojna (2002) by the Russian director Alexej Balabanow .

According to information from the nohchi.vu website (dated May 15, 2008), Timur Muzurajew (until then he was hiding from the Russian judiciary in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan) returned to Chechnya. There he is said to have met with President Kadyrov . The information about the meeting was later withdrawn by the reporting agency. In May / June 2008 Timur Muzurajew made two audio recordings in Chechen language in which he confirmed that he had met with President Kadyrov. In August 2008 a video recording of Timur Muzurajew was released, also in Chechen language.

On April 14, 2010, 21 songs by Muzurajew were classified as extremist by the Jurga City Court and have therefore been banned by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation . They may not be produced, stored or distributed. For the most part, the ban applies, as the poems of Aslan Jartschiev are used. All of Muzurajew's songs are still publicly available on the Internet.
