Tindsøya is one of four islands in Vesterålen in Øksnes Vestbygd . It is located in the Norwegian Fylke Nordland in the municipality of Øksnes .

The islands of Skogsøya , Dyrøya , Nærøya and Tindsøya, which are remote by today's standards, were abandoned by the inhabitants around 1970 due to the lack of infrastructure for the "modern age".

From a nautical point of view, however, they were never isolated, as they were easily accessible by sailing in the "West Bay" and are known for their abundance of fish. At its two isthmuses Tindsøya has with Skipnes and Tinden same two formerly important fishing and commercial places. Skipnes is now a holiday and leisure center used in the summer months. In Tinden the grocer of the Norwegian fisherman Skjalg Halmøy, who died in 2002, continues to operate for tourists, sailors and fishermen. After Skjalg Halmøy's death, the Tinden trading center became the property of a foundation that is supposed to preserve and allow visitors to come. On site, Skjalg's son Kjell Arne Halmøy takes care of everything, so that family continuity is ensured in the management. Tinden has been protected as a historically significant place since 1994.
