Tink.ch is a free online magazine for young people aged 16 to 30 in Switzerland . Tink.ch operates local editorial offices in Basel , Bern , Biel , Geneva , Lausanne , Lucerne , Neuchâtel , Upper Valais , Solothurn , St. Gallen and Zurich . The magazine deals with topics such as culture , politics , society and sport from the perspective of young people. The online magazine Tink.ch is therefore not only interested in the big stars and established politicians, but especially in the little starlets and rising young politicians. Today 90 members and 200 freelancers work for the online magazine. A board of directors works in the background, while the editorial management is in direct contact with the reporters and photographers.

history

On April 1, 2000 , a bilingual Bern city guide (German and English) under the name Youthguide went online as a result of a professional baccalaureate work. In 2001 the project was awarded 10,000 francs by the civic community of Bern as the winner of the Bern Youth Prize. In the summer of 2003, Youthguide was converted into an online magazine with exclusively editorial content. The contents of the Bern city guide have been abandoned. In autumn 2004, Youthguide won the Knight of Communication from the Federal Office of Communication in the youth category with the “Mediadukt” project .

Due to the change in content, Youthguide was relaunched six years after it was founded on April 1, 2006 under the name Tink.ch. New editorial offices were set up in various large cities in German-speaking Switzerland, for example in Lucerne , Zurich , Basel and Bern . In October 2006, Tink.ch also published its first printed magazine. The first editorial office was founded in French-speaking Switzerland in 2009.

In November 2010, the first Tink.ch themed magazine appeared in print form.

Matthias Strasser was editor-in-chief from March 2012 to October 2013. In April 2012 David Naef took over the publishing management from Janosch Szabo. In 2013, Tink.ch Deutschschweiz switched its online publication from weekly to daily publication. In October 2013, Michael Scheurer took over the helm of the Swiss-German Tink.ch editorial team as the new editor-in-chief from Matthias Strasser. In February 2014 David Naef handed over the presidency to Vivienne Kuster and the publishing management to Daniel Barnbeck.

In 2014, Tink.ch opened an editorial office in Ticino and has been publishing in three languages since then: in German, French and Italian.

In October 2014 Michael Scheurer handed over the position of editor-in-chief to Sandro Bucher, who headed Tink.ch in this position until April 2015. Sofiya Miroshnyk followed Sandro Bucher as editor-in-chief. Mélanie Baierlé followed Sofiya Miroshnyk.

In 2017, Sara Heiniger took over the presidency from Anita Béguelin and Olivia Borer.

Surname

According to today's understanding of German, Tink is a free word creation. Co-founder of Tink.ch Andreas Renggli stated in an interview that the fantasy name is derived from the English word ink ("ink").

financing

Tink.ch is financed through membership fees as well as income from advertising and youth media projects. Tink.ch also receives important financial support from various partners.

Participate

Everyone is free to participate. Tink.ch sees itself as a stepping stone for young journalists. The principle is simple: more experienced scribes and photographers pass on their knowledge. In this way, many journalists have already gained a foothold in the “real” media world after their time at Tink.ch. Those interested can register online.

Projects

In June 2010, Tink.ch relaunched the Festivalkalender.ch. The Festivalkalender.ch should one day be the most comprehensive calendar listing all festivals in Switzerland from the fields of music, film, comics and cabaret. The same applies here: Not only the big ones like Gurten or the St. Gallen Openair, but also the small, fine pearls among the festivals find their place on Festivalkalender.ch.

On the occasion of the 25th Federal Youth Session , which took place from November 10 to 13, 2016, Tink.ch broadcast an eight-hour live stream in cooperation with SRF .

Printed matter

In November 2010, Tink.ch published its own special issue for the first time. Since then, the print product has appeared quarterly. Orders can be placed on the Tink.ch website.
