Tinkebell or TINKEBELL. is the artist name of the Dutch artist Katinka Simonse (born June 10, 1979 in Goes ).

Tinkebell attended the art school in Tilburg and then the design program of the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam . She works in the field of conceptual art .

Tinkebell first caused a stir in 2004 when she killed her sick cat and turned it into a handbag . In 2007, it announced that it would publicly shred 60 chicken chicks. In 2011 she showed 95 hamsters in hamster balls . This action was stopped by the police and led to a complaint for cruelty to animals . Tinkebell himself was acquitted, but the gallery owner was identified as responsible and had to pay a fine.

In 2009 she and Coralie Vogelaar published a book called Dearest Tinkebell , which published e-mails she had received in response to her actions. These were offensive or threatening texts. Vogelaar and Tinkebell had also researched the full names and addresses of the senders on the Internet and also printed them.

In numerous interviews, the artist emphasizes that she is primarily concerned with depicting the paradoxical relationship between humans and animals , who on the one hand treat dogs and cats like family members and on the other hand cattle , pigs and poultry like objects. She is a vegetarian herself.
