Tino Dani (born September 22, 1899 (?) In Hungary as Dezső Dani , † March 17, 1991 in Argentina ) was a Hungarian singer and actor.

biography

Dani began as an opera singer , as a tenor , in Budapest, and made guest appearances in many European cities. In 1934 he was advised that if he wanted to make a career he should change his subject; so he decided to leave Budapest to go to Switzerland with an international orchestra. He stayed in Bern for about three months when the police chief there, with whom he was friends, informed him about the situation of Jews in Europe. He suggested that he go to Argentina and seek asylum there , as Switzerland would not grant him a residence permit.

In September 1937 he decided to emigrate with his wife and daughter Eva. Dani came to Buenos Aires with a contract in his pocket - with the help of one of the violinists who had emigrated with the Béla Dajos orchestra before him. Soon afterwards he began to sing for this orchestra on the radio; he stayed at Radio El Mundo for about two years. Later he also sang for other orchestras, e.g. B. for Sándor Horváth, and gave concerts in theaters, cinemas and radio stations. He sang in several languages: in Italian, French and Hungarian, using the stage name Tino Dani . The Tino had been necessary in Europe to be accepted as an opera singer, but he continued to keep him for a long time in Argentina. On September 22nd, 1989 Dani celebrated his 90th birthday. He died on March 17, 1991 while on vacation.
