Titular diocese of Thérouanne

Thérouanne ( Latin : Morinensis ) is a titular bishopric of the Roman Catholic Church .

It goes back to the diocese Thérouanne in the Franconian city ​​of Thérouanne, which was established in the 7th century . After the devastation of the city by Charles V , the diocese was abolished and became part of the Boulogne diocese in 1567 . After its abolition, the diocese territory has belonged to the diocese of Arras since 1801 .

Pope Benedict XVI restored the bishopric as a titular seat in January 2009. It was awarded for the first time in January 2019.
