Titular diocese of Wigry
Wigry is a titular bishopric of the Roman Catholic Church .
It goes back to the March 25, 1798 by Pope Pius VI. established the diocese of Wigry, which was renamed Sejny / Augustów by papal decree of June 30, 1818. On October 28, 1925, it was dissolved on the basis of the State Treaty with the Soviet Union ( Peace Treaty of Riga ) concluded on March 18, 1921 and incorporated into the newly established Diocese of Łomża . In November 2014 it was rebuilt as a titular seat and was first awarded on December 13, 2014.
