Titus Iulius Ustus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Titus Iulius Ustus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 1st century AD .

Ustus was probably Primus Pilus before he became tribune of the Cohors VIIII Praetoria ; the leadership of the cohort is proven by an inscription from Rome, which is dated to 41/54. After that he was probably Primus Pilus a second time. By three inscriptions that were found in the province of Thracia and which are dated to 61 and 59/63, respectively, it is proven that he was governor ( procurator ) in Thrace.

It is listed in another inscription found near Annecy . Possibly he came from the Gallia Narbonensis and was a relative of Titus Iulius Pollio . The two are possibly listed in another (incompletely preserved) inscription.
