Tityos painter
The Tityos Painter (also Titios Painter ) designated by the emergency name was an Etruscan vase painter of the black-figure style who is no longer known by name . He is one of the painters of the so-called Pontic vases . His creative phase goes into the third quarter of the sixth century BC. Dated.
Today over 40 works by the Tityos painter are known, including amphorae , jugs, kyathoi , bowls and plates. It was named after a depiction in which Apollon and Artemis kill Tityos . The Tityos painter often only depicted animal friezes, but his particular preference was Heracles and his deeds. His pictures are usually very colorful. He usually depicts the figures in motion. In addition to the Paris painter , who had a strong stylistic influence on him, the Tityos painter is considered to be one of the most important exponents of Pontic vase painting.
