Tlen Huicani is a folk - group from the Mexican state of Veracruz , whose name derives from the Nahuatl native and the singers means.

history

The group was founded in 1973 and plays Mexican folk songs, preferably from the state of Veracruz. Her repertoire includes La Bamba , La Bruja and La Malagueña , among others .

The group had their first appearance on September 12, 1973 in the State Theater of Xalapa , the capital of Veracruz.

The artistic director Alberto de la Rosa Sánchez is the only remaining founding member of the band, originally consisting of four and currently six members, which has performed at international folklore festivals in a large number of countries on different continents. In the German-speaking countries, the band has already performed in Cologne and Aachen ( Germany ) as well as in Geneva ( Switzerland ). Other European countries in which Tlen Huicani has already performed are Belgium , England , France , Italy , the Netherlands and Spain .
