Tlohang Sekhamane

Tlohang Joel Sekhamane [ tɫoˈhɑŋ ˌsexɑˈmɑnɛ ] (born May 30, 1955 in Mokhotlong ) is a Lesothic politician of the Democratic Congress (DC). From 2015 he was the country's foreign minister ; from November 9, 2016 to June 23, 2017 he was Minister of Finance .

Life

Sekhamane earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the National University of Lesotho (NUL) in 1982 . He then headed Mapholaneng High School in Mokhotlong. From 1986 to 1990 he was Assistant Private Secretary to King Moshoeshoe II. In 1988 he received a Diploma in Development Studies from Cambridge University , followed in 1989 by a Master of Philosophy in Economic and Politics of Development from the same university.

In 1991 he briefly lectured at NUL before becoming director of the National Teacher Training College in Maseru . In 1994 he returned to the NUL and became head of the Department of Development Studies. From 1995 to 1997 he was Education Officer for UNICEF . Subsequently he was employed at the NUL Institute for Development Studies (for example: " Institute for Development Studies "), which he headed from 1998. In 2000 he joined the Ministry of Education as Principal Secretary . From 2001 to 2015 he was Government Secretary (about: " Government Secretary ") and Head of the Public Service ("Head of the Public Service") Lesotho.

After the 2015 elections and the takeover of the DC, Sekhamane was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations (for example: "Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Relations"). During a government reshuffle in November 2016, he moved to the Treasury. After the DC's electoral defeat in the 2017 elections , he lost his ministerial office.

Sekhamane is married and has two children.
