The Toadstool Rocks (from English toadstool , ' toadstool ' ) are a small group of up to 2.5 m high cliff rocks in the southwest of Marguerite Bay west of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are east-southeast of Terminal Island and the northern end of Alexander I Island .
The crew of the British research vessel Bransfield roughly mapped them in 1977. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1978 based on the names of Mushroom Island and the Puffball Islands .
