Tobias Englmaier

Tobias Englmaier (born January 29, 1988 in Munich ) is a German judoka who competes in the weight class up to 60 kg.

Englmaier has been competing internationally since 2003, and was German junior champion in 2006 and 2007. His first major international success was his victory at the World Cup in Lisbon in 2010. In 2011, he finished second at the World Cup in Bucharest behind the Georgian Betkili Schukwani . In February 2012 Englmaier won fifth place at the tournament in Paris and third place at the Grand Prix in Düsseldorf. Englmaier was nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games in London and lost to the Armenian Howhannes Dawtjan in the first round . In 2014 Englmaier won his first German championship title in the adult class. At the Judo World Championships 2013 and the Judo European Championships 2014 Englmaier received the bronze medal with the team. In his second Olympic participation in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, he lost in the second round to the Brazilian Felipe Kitadai .

Englmaier starts in the Judo Bundesliga for his home club TSV München Großhadern .
