Tobias O. Keber

Tobias Oliver Keber (* 1974 ) is professor for media law and media policy at the Hochschule der Medien (HdM) in Stuttgart as well as co-founder and member of the executive committee of the Institute for Digital Ethics (IDE).

Life

Tobias Keber studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 1994 to 2000 . After his legal traineeship with positions at a medium-sized law firm (intellectual property law) in Pretoria (South Africa), Tobias Keber initially worked as an independent lawyer in the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz and as a research assistant and later as an academic adviser at a public law chair at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz active.

In 2008 Tobias Keber presented his dissertation on the “Concept of Terrorism in International Law”. The publication of the work was funded by the Federal Foreign Office and in 2009 was awarded the Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz prize for “best dissertation” in the field of law. At the same time he represented the professorship for commercial law, in particular public and international media and information technology law at the Cologne Research Center for Media Law, Cologne University of Applied Sciences.

Tobias Keber was visiting professor at the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville (USA), the University of the West of England (UK) and the National University of Kiev-Mohyla-Akademie (Ukraine).

Tobias Keber has held the professorship for media law and media policy at the Stuttgart Media University since 2012 and founded the Institute for Digital Ethics together with Petra Grimm and Oliver Zöllner in 2013. In addition to his work at the Media University, he has been chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Society for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD) eV since 2015 and is the author of numerous publications on national and international media, IT and data protection law.
