Sepan cuantos is a series of books by the Mexican publisher Librería Porrúa .

The book series is dedicated to the classic works of all time and is under the motto "La cultura alcance de todos" (for example: "Culture available to everyone"). The Spanish-language series, which has appeared since 1963, has become an iconic collection throughout Hispanic America / Latin America. Her name was given to her by the Mexican poet and diplomat Alfonso Reyes (1889-1959). Shortly before his death, he asked the publisher in which collection the Iliad to which he had written the preface would appear. He is said to have been answered in the same place where El Periquillo Sarniento by José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi (1776–1827) appeared in 1949, for which there was still no name. Then the author of La Cena ( The Last Supper ) baptized her Sepan cuantos ... (German for example: To all who read this ... ). Over the course of its history, well over 700 titles have been published in the series, including the great works of world literature as well as biographies, essays, letters and historical documents, political works, anthologies, poems, etc. Many writers, historians, sociologists, and researchers have contributed. The forewords of many of the volumes in this collection were written by personalities of the format Jorge Luis Borges , Sergio Pitol , Juan José Arreola and Salvador Novo , Miguel León-Portilla , Carlos Monsiváis , Américo Castro , Edmundo O'Gorman , Jorge Ibargüengoitia , José Emilio Pacheco and many others written by others. Two-column printing was one of the most important features of the series, but the newer titles and reprints are now published in a single column.
