Gabriel Miró
Gabriel Francisco Víctor Miró Ferrer (born July 28, 1879 in Alicante , † May 27, 1930 in Madrid ) was a Spanish writer.
Life
Gabriel Miró attended the Jesuit College Santo Domingo in Orihuela from 1887 to 1892 and graduated from the Instituto de Enseñanza Media in Alicante. He studied law at the Universities of Valencia and Granada until he graduated in 1900.
In 1901 he married Clemencia Maignon, the daughter of the French consul in Alicante; The daughters Olympia (* 1902) and Clemencia (* 1905) emerged from this marriage.
In 1910 he published Las cerezas del cementerio ; this was the starting point of his literary career. This was followed in 1915 by El abuelo del rey and Figuras de la Pasión del Señor (1916-17) and in 1917 by El Libro de Sigüenza . He worked as an administrator in Alicante until he moved to Madrid as a freelance writer and journalist in 1920. Miró led a withdrawn life, suffered economic hardship and had a rather melancholy temperament.

Miró is generally assigned to the Generación del 14 , the so-called "sons" of the Generación del 98 . He is best known for his autobiographically inspired, atmospheric and poetic novels, which have their strengths in the descriptive element. Miró is a contemplative type similar to Azorín ; Sensual impressions such as color, light and taste are very important in his work. His novels are basically just an impressionistic series of scenes in which the description of the landscape is the most important element. The basic mood of his work is melancholy; he cultivated carefully elaborated poetic prose with lots of metaphors and synaesthesias , with great attention to detail and a slow rhythm. Miró is very original in setting adjectives and has a rich vocabulary.
