Isidoro Blaisten (born January 12, 1933 in Concordia , Entre Ríos province , † August 28, 2004 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine journalist, photographer and writer.

Blaisten came from a Jewish immigrant family who, with the support of Baron Maurice de Hirsch and his Jewish Colonization Association , were able to immigrate to Argentina at the end of the 20th century. He was a son of David Blaistein and his wife Dora Gliclij; after the family settled in Concordia, they changed the family name from Blaistein to Blaisten .

Blaisten worked for many years as a bookseller in Concordia and also worked as a photographer. He made his debut as a writer successfully in the literary magazine "El escarabajo de oro". About the editorial staff of this magazine made u. a. also the acquaintance of Abelardo Castillo , who introduced him to the literary scene in the Café Tortoni .

In 2001 Blaisten was accepted as a member of the Academia Argentina de Letras ; a few years earlier he had already become a corresponding member of the Real Academia Española ( Madrid ).

At the age of 71, Isidoro Blaisten died of lung cancer on August 28, 2004 in Buenos Aires, where he found his final resting place.
