Todd Howarth (born January 25, 1982 in Perth ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Howarth was part of the Australian national school team in 1999 and 2000 and began, coming from the youth of Bayswater City SC , to play in 2000 in the Western Australia Premier League for Perth SC . Although repeatedly referred to as the best player in the league on the left wing and a top performer in the selection teams of the state of Western Australia , he did not make the leap into the National Soccer League, unlike many of his teammates at Perth, including Jamie Coyne , Robert Gaspar and Nik Mrdja . Trial training at Perth Glory (2001) and Adelaide City Force (2002) were unsuccessful for the technically strong and ball-safe player.

In early 2005 Howarth went to England for two years, where he was only occasionally active in football in Sunday Leagues . After his return he continued to play for Perth SC; In 2009 he was named team captain. In total, he won three league championships with Perth SC (2002, 2003, 2009), five times the Champion of Champions competition (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008) and six times the Night Series (2001, 2002, 2004 , 2007, 2008, 2009). In mid-2009 he trained again with Perth Glory and coach David Mitchell finally offered him a one-year professional contract, which Howarth accepted without hesitation and gave up his job as a bank clerk.

Howarth, although already 27 years old in his debut season as a professional, established himself as a regular player after a short time and reached the championship play-offs of the A-League for the first time with Perth Glory in the fifth attempt . At the end of the season Howarth had played 25 of 27 league games and scored two goals and received a new contract.
