Todd Skinner

Todd Skinner (born October 28, 1958 in Pinedale , Wyoming , † October 23, 2006 ) was an American free climber from the US state Wyoming. In the climbing scene, he was best known for the first free ascent of the Salathe route on El Capitan in the 1980s. According to his own statements, the extreme climber completed over 300 first ascents in 26 countries in the highest degrees of difficulty.

While trying to climb a new route at the Leaning Tower in Yosemite Valley, California , he fell about 150 m while abseiling because the rope loop of his harness broke. He died at the scene of the accident.
