The Todtnauer Hütte is an inn and Herderhütte southwest of the Feldberg summit at 1319  m above sea level. NHN in the Black Forest .

history

In 1583 a Todtnau cattle and herder hut was first mentioned in a document. It stood in the Kruisigrund near today's Black Forest barracks . It is unclear when the hut was moved further up the Feldberg . Their second location was on a slope on Seebuck , above the present day Leverhof Youth Hostel , where there is evidence of a hut space to this day. The next time it was mentioned, in a document from the St. Blasien Monastery of May 16, 1774, the owners, the inner community ( Todtnau ) and the farmers of Todtnauberg -Dorf and Todtnauberg-Rütte were allowed to expand the hut. At that time it was already in its place today. After a fire in 1902, the Todtnauer Hütte was rebuilt on a larger scale.

When the adjacent Herderhaus burned down at the beginning of the 1930s, the city of Todtnau built a spacious guest house in its place, which was expanded in 1958 to include a guest house directly adjacent to the old building. In 1975 the property was used by the German armed forces. Since 1976, after extensive expansion and renovation work, the training company 2/10 has been using the hut for winter combat and hunter training for the 10th Panzer Division . Since then it has served as accommodation for the soldiers of the Heer sports group and the South Sports Promotion Group . Its best-known members include the successful ski jumpers Sven Hannawald , Christof Duffner and Hansjörg Jäkle . In the course of the rationalization of the location, the hut was given up by the Bundeswehr in 1999. After the Todtnauer Hütte was closed, the Heer sports group was relocated to the nearby Black Forest barracks , where the 1st Company of the 50 Command Support Regulations was stationed until its dissolution.

present

The Gröbler family has been managing the Todtnauer Hütte since 1995. In 2001 the property was divided: one half was demolished and renatured, the other half was acquired by the previous tenant Horst Gröbler. Since then, the Todtnauer Hütte has been a mountain inn with a boarding house.

The Todtnauer Hütte is the starting point and destination of numerous hikes in the Feldberg area and is located directly on the Stübenwasenspur .
