The Notschrei trails are a 40-kilometer network of trails on the Notschrei ( 1119  m above sea level ), a pass between Oberried (in the north) and Todtnau (in the south) in the Black Forest and one of the five biathlon bases in Baden-Württemberg .

Trails

Four trails begin at Notschrei :

  • Stübenwasenspur (20 km, from Notschrei ( 1119  m ) over the Stübenwasen ( 1386  m ) to Todtnauer Hütte (approx. 1300  m ) on the Feldberg and back. The difference in altitude is 260 meters, the total of the inclines is 550 meters. Abbreviations: 6 km, 11 km, 13 km and 15 km), connections to Muggenbrunn , the cross-country trails in Todtnauberg and on the Feldberg. The route of the Stübenwasenspur has been changed several times in the last few years: the route no longer leads over the biathlon area and around the Ahornkopf, but the trail has been expanded to include a loop and an ascent in the initial part.
  • Schauinslandspur (18 km, from Notschrei over Trubelsmattkopf towards Wiedener Eck and back above Muggenbrunn. Abbreviations: 6 km, 9 km and 15 km), connections to Muggenbrunn, to Berggasthof Knöpflesbrunnen and to Wiedener Eck (from there connecting trail to the cross-country skiing center Hohtann )
  • Haldenspur (floodlit trail of variable length depending on the snow conditions, mostly approx. 2.5 km, accessible via the Schauinslandspur (junction after approx. 1 km, length of the connecting trail : approx. 1.5 km)), connection to the Hofsgrunder trail and to the Schauinsland mountain station
  • Biathlon course (approx. 3 km), on which regional and national championships are often held.

All Notschrei trails are circular, so they lead back to the starting point. However, thanks to the numerous connection options to the neighboring cross-country ski trail networks, they can also be used for target hikes. The 100 km long long distance skiing trail Schonach – Belchen runs between Todtnauer Hütte and Hörnle on the Notschrei trails. All cross-country trails are groomed for classic and skating .

The number of cross-country skiers on the Notschrei has increased significantly since 2000 due to the increasing popularity of cross-country skiing and the general lack of snow , as the Stübenwasenspur is one of the few cross-country trails in the Black Forest that are still guaranteed to be snowy.

operator

In 1975 the municipalities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Kirchzarten , Münstertal , Oberried, Todtnau, Wieden and the state forest administration of Baden-Württemberg established the non-profit association Notschrei-Loipe e. V. founded. In addition to the founding members, around 5,700 private members have been registered since 1997 (as of November 2018).

The Notschrei-Loipe e. V. operates a cross-country ski run house with showers, toilets and waxing room at the start of the Stübenwasenspur. In the immediate vicinity there is a service center with ski rental, the Nordic school and the club's own car park. The simple accommodations on the 2nd floor. of the Loipenhaus are currently reserved for training groups only.

Notschrei biathlon base

The Notschrei base has been the most important point of contact for biathletes from the Black Forest for many years and, alongside Gosheim , Schönwald , Ulm and the Furtwangen ski boarding school, the fifth biathlon base in Baden-Württemberg. The facility at Notschrei is the only small bore facility in Baden-Württemberg for competitions on a national and international level. An electrical target system is installed. The facility is also used as a summer training camp. In 2006 it was decided to expand the biathlon base for 750,000 euros.
