The marina of Glénac on the banks of the Oust

Glénac ( Breton Glenneg ) is a village and a former French community with 894 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belonged to the arrondissement of Vannes and the canton of Guer .

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of La Chapelle-Gaceline , La Gacilly and Glénac were merged to form the Commune nouvelle La Gacilly of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in La Gacilly.

geography

Glénac is located on the banks of the Oust , near the confluence of the Aff River . The estuary of the Aff is a moorland in which a wonderful wet biotope has developed. The Canal de Nantes à Brest , which essentially follows the Oust, runs about one kilometer from Glénac. The river Aff is navigable with pleasure boats and houseboats as far as La Gacilly . There is a charter base for houseboats in Glénac.
