La Gacilly is a village and a former French commune with 2,313 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the arrondissement of Vannes and the canton of Guer .
With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of La Chapelle-Gaceline , La Gacilly and Glénac were merged to form the Commune nouvelle La Gacilly of the same name and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in La Gacilly.
geography
La Gacilly is located on the Aff river , which flows into the Oust about ten kilometers further at Glénac , which forms the Canal de Nantes à Brest here. With sport boats and houseboats it is possible to drive the Aff up to La Gacilly. The community has set up a small dock for boats here.
history
The city saw the rise of the cosmetics company Yves Rocher from a small family business to an international group of companies.
Photography festival
Since 2003 there has been an annual photo festival in La Gacilly with pictures by internationally known photographers. German photographers such as Florian Schulz or Olaf Otto Becker were the focus of 2013 alongside others. The festival was held jointly with Baden near Vienna for the first time in 2018 .

Personalities
- Yves Rocher (1930–2009), the founder of the cosmetics company of the same name, was born in La Gacilly and was mayor of the town for 46 years.
