Toitzer mountain

Toitz lies in the east of the municipality and is 10 kilometers from Demmin . The castle moat and crown moat are in the immediate vicinity of the village. The place is immediately west of the crown forest. A two kilometer long road leads through this to the Toitz-Rustow station on the Berlin Northern Railway , which has not been used for passenger traffic since 1996 , and which was also the starting point of the Toitz-Rustow-Loitz railway line , which was dismantled after 2000 . From there, another two kilometers lead to Rustow. The Toitzer Berg settlement is located outside of the village on Landesstrasse 27 in the direction of Medrow .

history

Toitz was first mentioned in the Pomeranian document book on August 14, 1292. At that time it belonged to the villages on the Demminer Werder. Toitz was Gutsdorf and a free farming village since the 16th century. Around 1400, Dargun monks founded the Martin's Chapel. The half-timbered building of the old chapel was replaced by a more massive one in 1803.

A gable inscription from 1839 in the brick house on the estate proves that the Wendorff family had acquired the estate a year earlier. This built a new manor house in the village. From 1892 Hugo Wendorff leased his father's estate, which he owned in 1907. Ten years later he sold the estate to two Berlin industrialists so that he could devote himself entirely to politics. The new owners filed for bankruptcy during the economic crisis in 1930. The property was then foreclosed. The Demmin merchant Klänhammer became the new owner and increased his land holdings by 427 hectares.

During the land reform in 1945 around 1640 hectares of agricultural land were distributed to 171 former farm workers and landless people in the community. The first agricultural production cooperative in the Demmin district was founded in 1952 in Toitz with the name "LPG 'Max Reimann' Type I".
