Winspector (original title: Tokkei Winspector , Japanese 特警 ウ イ ン ス ペ ク タ ー , Tokkei Uinsupekutā ) is a Japanese science fiction series from 1990, which comprises 49 episodes of 25 minutes each. Winspector is part of the Rescue Heroes trilogy, which is part of the Metal Heroes franchise. This is a series of television series produced by Tōei in Japan. In almost all series of Metal Heroes , the protagonists are police special units, which can transform and then wear the characteristic metal armor. From 49 episodes on Winspector, episodes were also shortened depending on the translation.
action
Winspector is the special unit of the Metropolitan Police, which is called whenever a case seems hopeless for the normal police. The series takes place in a futuristic high-tech society in the Japanese urban jungle in 1999 (in the future from a then perspective). The team consists of three humans and two robots, Robin Kagawa, Chief Masaki, Junko Fujino and the robots Brian and Walter. Depending on the assignment, other members are available to help. With the help of state-of-the-art equipment, the people at Winspector manage to triumph over and over again against unscrupulous criminals. Robin Kagawa, for example, is the only one of his colleagues who can wear cyborg-like armor (crush tector) in order to achieve victory in particularly dangerous situations. When transformed, it is called Fire. Vehicles and special weapons (especially the Gigastreamer) are also available to them. Robin drives a sports car that serves him both as a police vehicle and as a specially armored emergency vehicle in a transformed state (called WinSquad; this is a Chevrolet Camaro RS). Brian drives a special motorcycle (called a Winchaser) and Walter can fly with the help of a rocket backpack . The series ends with the last episode, Die Beast , in which Winspector is now on the hunt for criminals in Paris.
Winspector in Germany
The series was first broadcast in Germany on RTLplus in 1992/1993 . Another broadcast took place in 1994/1995. RTL no longer owns the broadcasting rights. However, all episodes are saved in the archive at RTL. A DVD release by an interested label would therefore be possible. However, RTL does not know of any DVD publisher who could be interested in publishing this series. According to its own statement, RTL itself will not publish the series on DVD.

successor
A successor series to Winspector was produced under the name Tokkyū Shirei Solbrain (特 救 指令 ソ ル ブ レ イ ンTokkyū Shirei Soruburein ) , in which Chief Masaki, after Robin, Junko, Brian and Walter left, goes to France and has built up a new police force. Robin has guest appearances in some episodes, however. The series was never translated into German and is very different in style from Winspector .
